Body Image Fitness

Web Design & UX

Responsive web design helps refreshing wellbeing brand reach more clients.

Every so often a project comes along that just speaks to us. For me (Ellen), Body Image Fitness was one of those. If you’re familiar with my weekly newsletter, then you’ll know that I am anti-diet culture, but also a keen fitness enthusiast. So, when Kim Stacey approached us to discuss transforming her self-built website into a lively brand hub, I was truly excited to see this project turn into a reality.

About the client

Body Image Fitness runs in-person non-diet fitness classes, as well as an online membership platform where users can access classes and other benefits through a third-party platform.

Users can choose to join different levels of monthly memberships with tiered payment systems and/or attend in-person classes to improve their fitness in a non-judgemental environment.

Our approach

When developing a new WordPress website for Body Image Fitness, it wasn’t just about creating a new flashy design. The priority was to develop a platform that clearly defined the company’s offering and the benefits of its membership to all users.

Before creating a single page, we worked with Kim to develop a wireframe that would help communicate everything the company had to offer without diluting its message or confusing new members.

This initial process involved a series of UX workshops with the client so we could really take the time to understand Kim’s core target audience, including their concerns and pain points about joining a fitness platform.

When developing the site map and page wireframes, we discussed how to ensure information was clear and accessible, without sacrificing BIF’s vibrant personality.

Kim worked on the copywriting herself for this project, but we provided support with SEO keywords and page layout to make the most out of her work.

We also wanted to adapt BIF’s existing colour palette and make the website aesthetically pleasing and accessible to all users.

The challenges

As Body Image Fitness provides different memberships and a tiered payment structure, we needed to ensure that website visitors could easily work out which solution was right for them.

We created a comparison table, and several other visual components to accurately portray Body Image Fitness’s memberships.

Every client has a different level of understanding and ability when it comes to managing their own websites going forward, and we seek to always support and educate them so they can keep their websites up-to-date themselves where possible. Through a training session and pre-recorded videos, we taught BIF’s Kim to harness the potential of new website, including how to add testimonials, change images and create new pages.
